What is Sagecraft?
Sagecraft is a solo TTRPG one-shot with an AI game master. And the dice are real.
No group to schedule. No rules homework. You open a browser and play a solo tabletop RPG session with an AI game master: a full adventure with a beginning, a middle, and an earned ending, even when your group cannot meet.
Here is the part that makes Sagecraft different. When your rogue picks a lock or your fighter swings a sword, the outcome is not decided by an AI making things up. The AI narrates. The engine adjudicates. A rules engine running real tabletop mechanics, built on the freely licensed System Reference Documents (SRD 5.1 and 5.2), sets the difficulty, rolls the dice, and enforces the result. The story has to live with it. Failure is possible. That is why success means something.
How a session works
- Forge your hero. Pick a ready-made adventurer and play in minutes, or build your own.
- Play in plain language. Say what you do. Your game master runs the world around you.
- Roll when it matters. Skill checks, saving throws, combat. Real dice, visible rolls, honest outcomes.
A moment of play
You type: “I wedge the oar under the portcullis and heave.”
The table calls for a Strength check, DC 15. Your d20 lands on 12. With your +2, that is a 14.
The gate holds. The guards heard you. The story just took the harder road, and got better for it.
What Sagecraft is not
It is not a chatbot wearing a cloak, and it is not a novel that agrees with everything you type. It is a game. The rules hold, the dice can betray you, and the ending is yours to earn.
During beta: adventures are single-evening one-shots for 1st-level heroes, headlined by The Secret of Tidehaven. More is on the anvil.
Sagecraft is in private beta. If you have an invite, start tonight. If not, invites come through the Discord.
