Welcome to the table
You need three things: a browser, an account, and about an evening. That is the whole setup.
1. Create your account. During private beta, Sagecraft is invite-only. If you have an invite, sign up at playsagecraft.com. If not, join the Discord; that is where invites come from.
2. Choose your first adventure.
- Quick Adventure drops you straight in with a ready-made 1st-level fighter. Fastest way to learn how the game plays. Start here.
- Create a hero walks you through building your own adventurer (ancestry, class, and a name worth remembering), then sets out on the full one-shot.
3. Take your first turn. Your game master opens the scene and hands you the spotlight. Type what you do, in your own words. “I ask the barkeep about the missing fishermen.” “I check the door for traps.” “I draw my sword.” There is no command syntax to memorize.
One phrase you will see throughout this guide: the table. It means the whole game working together: your game master, the rules, and the dice. When a moment calls for a roll, the table will tell you.
Things you should know
- There is no wrong way to play. Talk to everyone, fight everything, or sneak past all of it. The adventure bends to your style.
- Your game master is an AI, and AI narration has quirks. It is honest about the rules because the rules are not its job. A description may occasionally wobble. See About your game master for what it can and cannot do.
- A one-shot is meant to finish. Expect a full story in roughly an evening. Your session is saved, so you can step away and return.
